What is CropSense?

CropSense is Africa's agricultural intelligence infrastructure. We unify satellite imagery, soil, climate, yield, market and financial data into a live record for every field, then apply AI models calibrated to African conditions. That single data layer produces two things: advisory, alerts and yield forecasts that help farmers and agribusinesses raise productivity, and credit scores, remote farm verification and risk profiles that let banks, insurers and governments finance agriculture with confidence.

What is YieldRank and how does the credit score work?

YieldRank™ is our agricultural credit scoring engine. Instead of asking "did this borrower repay in the past?", it asks "given this farm's agronomic, climate and market conditions, how likely is repayment?" Scores are built from three data pillars — agronomic intelligence, climate risk profiling, and alternative financial proxies such as mobile money history, input purchases and cooperative participation — and update monthly through the crop cycle, so lenders see a living view of risk rather than a snapshot. Scores are delivered by API, batch scoring or a partner portal. Learn more about YieldRank.

Does CropSense lend or underwrite?

No. We are infrastructure, not a lender or an insurer. We do not originate loans, hold risk on our balance sheet, or compete with our partners for the borrower. Institutions keep the customer relationship and the credit decision; CropSense supplies the data and scores those decisions rest on.

How accurate are your models, and how is that verified?

Model performance is published to partners under review, covering yield prediction error, alert precision and recall, ground-truth sample size, and the crops and geographies each model has been validated on. We also state known limitations openly — for example, Sentinel-2's 10 metre resolution constrains accuracy on sub-hectare intercropped plots. How is farmer data protected?

Farmer data is processed in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and equivalent frameworks in the markets we operate in. Farmers consent to how their data is used, institutional partners receive only the data required for the assessment they have requested, and we do not sell farmer data to third parties. Is there a free version available?
